Jiko workshop: A women's workshop on sustainable energy use organised by JAA Resource Centre from UK taking place at a Kakamega village in January 2011. Among other things, the women learnt that in the long term it is healthier and economically sustainable to use energy efficient jiko (stove) than firewood (tsikhwi) which they gather from the forest and, increasingly by cutting down trees growing in their gardens or in the neighbourhood.
